Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were notified late on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then found numerous other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials report initial examinations show the substance was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; authorities are not yet informed of any physical harm in association with the event," they added.
Local authorities said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the community for tips.
An important official said the attack made him stunned and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on online, mentioning the death of nine victims by a gunman focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
